High-End Luxury Furniture Retailer becomes First to Accept Bitcoin in the UK

Luxury furniture retailer and interior design service provider Juliettes Interiors has become the first high-end U.K. retailer to accept bitcoin.
Juliette Thomas, the company’s director, is an individual who looks toward embracing new technologies. She was one of the first to drive in an all-electric Tesla car. Now she is turning her attention to the crypto market.
She said that within the next 18 months the use of bitcoin will be a part of our day-to-day lives.
The world around us doesn’t stand still and, as a company, we must always be ahead of the game. We have been looking at digital currencies for some time now and we know that many of our clients are serious bitcoin investors.
She adds that even though the cryptocurrency’s user base is growing, customers of Juliettes Interiors have been unable to use it. That is until now. Customers will now have the option of using bitcoin to pay for the company’s luxury, designer furniture and residential interior design services.
In July, it was reported that Dadiani Fine Art, located in Mayfair, London, had become the first fine art gallery in the U.K. to accept a range of cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, as payment for its art.
At the time, Eleesa Dadiani, the gallery’s owner, said:
Cryptocurrencies will provide a bridge from the elitist, centralist fine art market to a decentralized open source world where many more will be able to become part of this exhilarating market.
This, however, is just one example of how London is embracing the digital currency market. The housing sector is also turning its attention to the currency. Earlier this month, a Notting Hill mansion was put up for sale with an asking price of £17 million. Buyers wishing to purchase the six-storey stucco-fronted house will need to pay in bitcoin, making it the first for the city.
Juliettes Interiors joins the likes of Expedia, Dell, Microsoft, and Save the Children by offering bitcoin as an alternative payment option.
