Oddly enough, this wallet is just called ‘Bitcoin Wallet’. The application looks somewhat similar to the typical Bitcoin Core wallet and is pouring with useful features.
There is no registration, web service or cloud needed. The wallet is open sourced, decentralised and peer-to-peer. Users are able to display Bitcoin amounts in BTC, mBTC and µBTC, can keep track of certain addresses by storing them in an address book, use a widget to display their balance outside of the application and even send Bitcoin via Bluetooth when there is no internet connection available.
With over 9,261 current ratings on the Google Play store and overall 4/5 star rating, it is certainly a great and trustworthy Bitcoin Android wallet if you’re into full decentralisation.
Coinbase Wallet
Coinbase is an online Bitcoin exchange and payment service provider with over 2 million users and 30,000 merchants, so if you don’t really care for full decentralisation, the Coinbase wallet is a wonderful application.
The user interface is simple and has the unique Coinbase style. From your Coinbase wallet you are able to buy and sell Bitcoin, view all transaction history, generate new addresses, as well as disable the application if something unfortunate happens to your device.
On top of that the Coinbase wallet has the additional expected features any wallet should have; QR codes, password protection, zero fees and intuitive design.
Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet
Mycelium is a more efficient Bitcoin Android wallet. It is built for simplicity and speed.
No block chain is required, users have the ability to export their private keys, can manage multiple addresses and users even have the option to never reuse an address.
Cold storage support! Mycelium also allows cold storage sending, so you may store and spend from paper wallets!
If you wish to buy or sell Bitcoins, Mycelium has a feature to show people willing to meet up and trade in your area. Traders are provided with a reputation system so you can be sure every trade you make will be safe.
Green Address
Green Address takes a more innovative approach toward a Bitcoin Android Wallet. While most wallets are built on improving simplicity and speed, Green Address does both but also has drastically improved security.
Green Address has designed a watch-only mode that allows you to view your balance and receive Bitcoin while you don’t even have full access to your wallet, making the wallet safe for use with public Wi-Fi.
The Bitcoin Android wallet will never store your private keys, has per-transaction two-factor authentication support, uses BIP32 so that each wallet address changes per incoming transaction so nobody can follow your transaction history, supports transactions via SMS, Facebook and Twitter.
Do you want a 50 inch steel door protecting your Bitcoins? Green Address is your best option for that virtual steel door.
Blockchain.info
Now I know Blockchain.info gets mentioned a lot, but it’s to be expected when the service they offer runs pretty much flawlessly. The application is incredibly simple; no complications whatsoever. You can view Bitcoin merchants near you, send and receive Bitcoins, there is QR code support, pin protection and the ability to create and use multiple addresses.
While Blockchain.info is a huge name in Bitcoin, you can be sure that your Bitcoins will be safe with them. That being said, remember that no online wallet service is 100% secure. Any service may be subject to hacking, losses and so forth. So NEVER store the entirety of your coins on an online wallet. Don’t gamble what you cannot afford to lose.
